Starlooks July 2014 Nylon Pink special edition!

Sorry this took so long . I was waiting for the mystery items to arrive from the last promo .
The special edition Nylon Pink box actually scared me at first since I knew it would have bright colors;  and well me and bright colors just don't go well together lol.
I will admit I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that I could wear everything but the lipstick (Ashley already claimed that since she's more brave with makeup lol)

Now the first time I got this box I was stalking the mail since it was 101 here in the south and well we all know how heat and lipstick go so well together lol.
So I'm driving my kids nuts sending them to check the mail every 15 min. But it didn't help.  So to be on the safe side I let it sit a bit. Ugh oh Texas ..... no dice I opened the lipstick (starlooks tender gloss in pooh bear) I had barely opened it and it fell out of the tube ( honestly my first thought was omg Ashley is going to kill me, then omg I have neon orange stuff all over my couch and carpet! ) yea it's bright alright! But it's pretty . I certainly can't pull it off though.  Even the lio liner in tipsy was melted.  Yea we don't have ac here either I dunno maybe that proves im a bit insane. ...
So I was actually on the phone playing with the shadow after I had emailed pictures of my melted box and while the c/s lady was doing her thing I was noticing how buildable the shadow was. It's really not as bright as I thought. And can be worn alone for a subtle look.  It came off as a very light gold  rather  than a yellow.  (Im certainly not complaining lol). My point of mentioning me calling c/s about the melted box is just another props to this awesome company.  I wasn't on the phone for longer than 10 min. I had assumed with s new box being sent that I would be waiting at least a week. I was actually amazed to come home from work 2 days later and find it waiting for me ( thankfully it was only a cool 96 that day snd yes I am aware how sad that sounds lol) I'm still on the fence about the eyeliner that came in the box.  The only way I can describe it is a bright smokey blue if that makes sense. I have blue eyes so I want to try it.  But will it be too much blue?  The lip pencil is really the perfect color for me . Its a great neutral color which kind of suprised me that it was in a box with such bright colors. All in all I t h ink this box was a great mix of bright and neutral colors .
The retail value of the box was 49$ and I only paid 17 and change.  (15$ plus s/h) a great deal IMHO

Yep I am working on the starlooks review from the july box ,but while im waiting I want to hear from you! The sad thing is I may have something you request in my stash. But if not I'll run out and get it. Of course please keep in mind I only have a sallys as our towns "high end makeup store" and I'll have to keep a budget of a max $20.00. So while I m doing spaghetti Tuesday I want to hear what you guys are wondering about. With any luck I'll have something you guy's request in the comments.  Yes I may be a little obsessed with makeup but this could work to our advantage! Annnnd GO!

Starlooks update!

Omg I'm still giggling about how awesome this company is! A few days ago I received my replacement makup remover and when I went to pull out what I thought was an order slip I was quite surprised.  I had let them know in my email about the makeup remover that I had posted a blog about last month's box.  I refuse to put a company on blast for minor issues of a faulty pump or my crystal obsession not being fed that month lol. I just don't roll like that.  So yeah I admit I sounded a bit crazy about the crystals,but it's nothing compared to when I talk about makeup or nail polish.  I have to give it to starlooks for shipping  out the replacement makup remover so fast and putting up with my quirkiness. Kudos starlooks what I thought was an order slip just proves you have some cool people working for you. Keep up the great work!

May starlooks review and rant....

Hey guys! Yes I'm back and no I have NOT stopped blogging,I just had some home stuff to take care of.
Now that being said on to my lil rant (well not really much of one it just kinda bugged me).

Below is May's star looks box I received...

Overall it's a great box.  I knew as soon as I opened it and saw the shreds I wasn't going to be happy (so much so that I actually went to thier Facebook page and asked where is my crystal lol) Hey I really look forward to them! That's normal right? Ok so in response to my plea of crystals they said they will have them in June's box :( but I guess it saved me from looking for a crystal in a stack of shreds. (This concludes said rant) 

So onto what goodies I got!  What I thought was powder is apparently an illuminater it's pretty but a little goes a long way. As you can see it has a slight red tint to it ( I used a brush to apply it and I wiped off a lot and my face still seemed red ) 

The makeup remover works great but the spray pump didn't work (also addressed by many on thier Facebook pg) they are taking care of it but I do like the idea behind it! Would make things so much faster for me. 

The eyeliner is a pretty shade but I'm kinda scared to use it, I'm not much into bold colors on me but I may try it soon . The last thing was the spa towel sample, I say sample because they are sold in packs of 15 on the site.  It's a lotion wipe and smells nice but way out of my price range even if I'm using my loyalty code. Which is a perk I love that they have! If you get a box for 3 months you can get a code worth 35$off anything on the site! I'm still trying to figure out what I want to get with mine.  I know I need more powder ..... but hey you can't beat the price of the monthly sub at a little over 17$  and the lowest value of a box I have seen was 48$ the illuminater powder alone is worth 25$!

March 2014 Starlooks Starbox "Ashley Hackman Special Edition"

This is my second month receiving Starbox by Starlooks. Apparently this month the box was a special edition curated by someone named Ashley Hackman who apparently makes YouTube videos. I'm sure this is really exciting for people who know who that is. I, however, do not. Starbox is $15 a month, plus shipping, which is an excellent deal. So far, all of the Starlooks items I have tried have been really great quality, and the box items are usually at least double what you pay.

I like this box, don't get me wrong, but for someone who owns alot of makeup, this isn't the most spectacular box ever. The items I received this month are more like... staple items that every person who owns alot of makeup is already going to own.

Here is a first look at the box!

This is what the lipstick and liner look like next to each other. Not sure how I feel about it.

Overall, this isn't an AWFUL box or anything, it's just kind of... boring? Honestly, I'm probably going to cancel this subscription for now as well as my Ipsy, and maybe try out one that costs more overall instead of two cheap ones so I can get more high end full sized items. Any ideas?! What is your favorite beauty subscription?! Open to suggestions over here!

February 2014 Starlooks Starbox Review & Unboxing! :)

Last month I finally succumbed to peer pressure from Chynel and signed up for Starlook's Starbox. I'm totally addicted to subscription boxes right now, and I've been really interested to try more of Starlook's makeup. I've received a couple of things in past Ipsy bags from them that I really loved, PLUS during your birthday month, they send you a birthday gift for FREE, and February was my birthday month! I know I'm a little bit late on this post as it's now March, but in my defense they shipped out our boxes a little bit late this month! Better late than never!!! Here's what I received!

Starbox has the cutest little box ever in my opinion. It comes in a bubble mailer for added protection.

It also contains a little card that details everything that was sent out during the month. I think this is a really nice touch!! :) On the back of it is the inspiration photo that is used in their spoilers, but I totally forgot to take a picture of it! OOPS! I believe the theme for February was "futurism", but correct me if I'm wrong.

Every Starbox comes with a little Crystal in it. They suggest you collect them to create a brush holder.. 

The first thing I pulled out was a big grey headband. This is the extra for the month. Not super amazing, but it is actually pretty good for using face masks with and unlike most headbands it didn't immediately slip off my weirdly shaped head. I also like grey...

Cream Shadow in "Phaser" - Value $12

This month they sent everyone one of four different exclusive cream shadows. I received "Phaser", which is a light purple shade. Unfortunately, I stopped wearing purple eyeshadow a few years ago, so I won't be using this any time soon. Every subscription I have keeps sending me purple cream shadows for some reason!!! It's driving me crazy.  I would have rather received "Hologram" or "Warp" as they are more neutral. 

 

Lipstick in "Drew" - Value $12 (click to see their 69 shades!)

Starlooks also sent out lipsticks this month! This color is not something I would usually buy on my own, but I actually really like it. It's really metallic and shiny and nice. I received the color "Drew" which is kind of metallic purple but they also sent out "Lilu" and "Bff", both of which are shimmery and nude looking, which I do not like! The card says the colors they picked for this month can be worn on their own, paired with a darker color for an extra metallic look, or used to create an ombre lip, which is what I plan on doing with my new lippie! :) 

Pigment in "Tungsten" - Value $17 

Last, each of us received one of two pigments that are perfect for smoky eyes! I received this in "Tungsten" and the other color they sent was "Wall Street". As a makeup junkie, I am totally obsessed with pigments. I haven't tried this yet, and while I have a TON of eyeshadow for smoky eye looks, I'll probably find a use for this. I would have rather received Wall Street though, because it's darker and I like a cut crease!

Overall, the value of this box is AWESOME! I didn't have any of these products already from Starlooks, so instead of paying $41 for them I got them for only $15! NOT TO MENTION the BIRTHDAY GIFT!! 

Lipstick & Lip Liner -Value $24!

My birthday gift, which I received like two days after my Starbox, was another Lipstick in "Claudia" (Value -$12) and a lip liner in "Tipsy" (Value $12)! I really really love this color of lipstick and Tipsy happens to be the only lip liner I've ever used and liked but I lost it, so this is a double win for me! I love their lip liner because it's super long lasting and this color goes great with all of my many many pink lippies.

December Starlooks Box

So the best part of having a Starlooks Sub Starbox is the december box. They always do one of their 99 dollar palettes. I was hoping and praying it would be their new years eve palette. Side note if you dont know what a starbox is, it is a monthly subscription for 15 dollars a month plus shipping and you get 3-4 fullsize Starlooks products. I switched my sub from Ipsy over to them since they are basically giving away starlooks products anyways, I might as well be subbed to them. So lets do an unboxing!

So it comes just like this, last years box was red and sparkly but they did the regular white box which I am kinda sad about but its just a box lol. 

This was the first thing inside and its the details of the box and what is inside. 

I am so happy it is the New Years Eve Palette! Yay!

So this is what the New Year's Eve Palette looks like, It is so gorgeous! I am so happy!

Alright time for some swatches! The first picture below is the going L-R the first 7 and then the remainder 8 on the second picture. 

It is such a beautiful Nude palette which are my favorites! The eyeshadows are very pigminted and creamy. It did contain mattes which were not as much creamy but you can still work with it. I dont know if in my opinion it is worth the 99 dollars but it definitely is the best 17 dollars I ever spent. It is not as wonderful as Urban Decay but it is still extremely well. November Ipsy Unboxing!!!

I seriously can't believe it's already mid November. This year has totally flown by since I got my new job in March. But, that being said, it's Ipsy time again!! Ipsy unboxing posts are always my favorite to do every month!! This month's bag contained 6 items which I thought was really awesome. The 6th item was a bonus item from Em Cosmetic's which is Michelle Phan's makeup line if you don't already know. I don't know much about her makeup but I know I love her makeup tutorials on YouTube.

For those of you who don't already know, Ipsy is a subscription service where for $10 every month you get a mystery bag of 4-5 deluxe sample or full size beauty items. Plus they come in a cute bag and you get to fill out a profile to tailor the bags to your beauty needs and what you like and don't like. I am very happy with this subscription. I almost signed up for Birchbox instead but I'm really glad I didn't. I've received everything from nail polish, to lipstick, gloss, bronzer, blush, mascara, and beyond. It's a really fun program if you're in to trying new makeup brands you wouldn't normally buy for yourself.

So here is my November bag in all it's glory! I am pleased with most everything I received this month.

First up is the Kiss lashes! As you can see I've already used them. I received the lashes in 03. I love false eyelashes so much. My regular lashes are pretty long already, but I love to play with falsies!! :) These are pretty good false lashes in my opinion and they come with an applicator. I found that the glue that comes with them kind of sucks, but I had some other kind laying around so no worries there. I don't really care for the applicator either. My lashes just kept getting stuck to it. Fingers work better for me. These retail for 19.95 on Amazon. You can purchase them HERE. A little pricey for lashes in my opinion, but they might be cheaper elsewhere. Oh just kidding, I found a single pair on Amazon for $2.01 with $3.99 shipping. Definitely worth that. Go and get them HERE! 

Here's a picture of them on after they'd been on all day. They blend in really nicely with my real ones so they don't look super trashy and fake. :)

Next is the Starlook Gem Eyeliner in Amethyst. I haven't used this on my eyes yet because I'm trading it for the Topaz, but I have swatched it (I'll show you in a minute), and it's really really pretty. It is a super shimmery light purple color that I think would be perfect for winged eyeliner or in the corners or your eyes. Everyone needs a little bling eyeliner in their life right? lol It retails for $14.00 on the Starlooks site and you can get it HERE. I will probably pick up one of these in Myth (a shiny black) and Fancy (A shiny green) while ipsy has the 40% off going on. They look so pretty!!  

Here is the "Amazing Grey" Em liner. It's a really nice Charcoal grey color and is supposed to be waterproof. It also has a little smudger at the end which is pretty convenient if you like to smudge. :) I've been wanting to try something from this line for a long time now, so I'm pretty happy we were all given something to test!! I'll definitely review the purple one after I get it from Michelle on Monday. These retail for $20 and there are 12 different colors to choose from! You can get them HERE

Next up is the Nailtini polish in Caviar Cocktail. I'm so glad I got this color and not Champagne because I HATE bronze nail polish and I love silver. I have so many silver nail polishes and I could use a million more. This color is a darker silver color and will look really great with some little fake diamonds or studs on it. I'm much more impressed with it than the Mai Tai color we received a few months ago. Nail Tini is a 3 free brand which is pretty cool. It retails for $13 on the nail tini website but you can buy it for $11.02 on Amazon and save a couple bucks HERE!

I also received a Lip Crayon by Be a Bombshell in the color Shameless. Not sure if I'm going to use this or not, I may try to trade it. The last lip crayon I got I absolutely hated. Shameless is a burgundy shimmer color. I know it's fall but I probably would have kept this if I'd gotten, I don't know, hot pink or something. lol  It retails for $14 and you can buy it HERE.

It looks alot brighter than this swatch in person. I imagine it's buildable as well. A nice shade for fall though.

Last is the Pixi bronzer. I wanted to love this. I love bronzer. I use it every day. Unfortunately I received the light color and it totally disappears on my skin. It has a nice shimmer to it, but other than that it's pretty much useless for me. This is the second Pixi product I've gotten that I didn't love. I don't understand exactly who this color is supposed to "bronze" but it's definitely not me. You can buy this HERE on Amazon for $17.85 and it comes with a Kabuki brush. Which is always nice to have. The packaging is cute though. :) 

Can you see it? I sure can't. lol 

All in all, bronzer shade aside, I'm still thrilled with the bag. Hell, I'm even thrilled with the bag itself. I forgot to mention it.
