Comic Book Nail Tutorial!

I am so thrilled about this tutorial right now. A friend of mine sent me this idea on Pinterest and it is so so cool! I'm going to show you how to do a comic book/cartoon mani!!

For this mani I used:

  1. Sinful Colors - Black on Black
  2. Julep - Korin
  3. LA Color's Color Craze - Aquatic
  4. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Sunkissed
  5. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Fuchsia Power
  6. Sinful Colors - Candy Coated
  7. Seche Vite Top Coat
You can use any colors you want for this, just make sure and use a shiny black and super bright colors for the other colors to make sure they show up over the black. I tried to use a red at first but it was too see through.

First you need to paint all of your nails black and let them dry!

The next part is kind of tricky. Paint on rounded square or oval blobs of colors over the black depending on the shape of your nails. I prefer the square look for this and it's what I used. Some of the colors I picked I had to do two coats of and ende up painting up too far. I had to go back and do a black line at the top of my nail but you can't really tell in the end result. Just make sure it is in the center of your nail and you have black around all the sides. :)

After the colors are completely dry you want to get your white and a small thin brush and paint on little upside down explanation marks on the sides. Make sure and do it all on the same side on each nail so that it looks like light is hitting your nails. You can also do a "j" shape and a dot at the bottom. You can adjust size depending on how dramatic you want them to be. I probably will do mine a little bigger next time, and leave more black. Then apply your topcoat and you're done!!

This is actually some of the easiest nail art that I've done. There aren't alot of tiny lines and I really like that because I'm horrible at them. PLUS it looks good on short nails!!! Let me know what you think!

Leopard Nail Tutorial!

So let me start this off by saying I'm an all things leopard/cheetah/animal print in general JUNKIE. Leopard nails are my favorite kind of nail art to do because they look super cute and they are so so easy.
Here's a tutorial for those of you who don't know how to do it!

For this I used:

The best part about this look is that you can use pretty much any colors that look good together. I also like to do rainbow leopard nails because they remind me of Lisa Frank things and it brings me back to my childhood. :) Sorry in advance my cuticles look SO bad and by the time I realized it I had wet nails and couldn't get in my purse to find my cuticle oil!

  1. The first step is to apply your base colors. I did three coats of Kathleen to make sure it was not see through at all and two coats of Drew.
  2. Next you paint on the spots with your regular nail brush where ever you want the leopard spots to be. They don't have to be perfect because in order for it to look like true leopard print they need to be irregular.
  3. After that if you want glitter on your spots, go ahead and put it on the dots you painted after you finish your second hand when they are kind of dry.
  4. The next step is to add the black around the spots. You don't want them to all look the same so I do some of them with two lines on either side of the spot, some of them with three and do some parts thicker than others that way it looks more like real leopard print.
  5. Last, after your nails are kind of dry add your top coat! I wait until mine are drier just because I have shrinkage problems with Seche Vite.... I will probably be trying out a new topcoat soon. I feel like it defeats the purpose of having a fast dry topcoat if its just going to shrink and look ugly the next day. :/

But yeah! That's all there is to it! Super easy, Super cute leopard mani!
    Hope you enjoy!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle nails

Well, I was asked to make my first blog post a nail tutorial. So here we are. We picked TMNT because lets face it y'all they are pretty kick ass. This is just a minimal nail job seeing as how I chose to get it done in the middle of the day, right after I picked my children up from school. Bad idea, though my daughter did decide to organize my polishes for me.

So onto TMNT nails!

I haven't done my nails in weeks since they've been pretty crappy. Luckily, Julep's Cuticle Oil is pretty amazing and made my cuticles look not so crappy for the photos.
For the green I'm using Julep "Payton", for the orange I'm using Julep "Marjorie" (everyone needs at least a LITTLE sparkle right ladies!?), for the blue I'm using Julep "Char", the purple is Sinful Colors "Amethyst", the red is Sally Hansen "Cherry Red", the white is Sally Hansen as well ( I LOVE this white btw its so amazing), and the black is some random polish I grabbed out of a box at a yard sale, then my top coat is LA Colors.

So, start with your base coat of green. I used 2 coats to get a solid look.

Next, paint your stripes for their masks. I don't use striping tape since the brush usually gives a good line. I tried to use tape, but it just kept messing up..
I love my dotting tool. It has become my best friend when doing nails. So, start with white and make 2 dots on each color. After that is dry, make 2 smaller dots with black inside the white.

These are pretty simple. There are more elaborate ways to do it, but for a quick, nerdy, cute mani this works for me!
Enjoy ya'll!

Easy everyday makeup tutorial!

This is how I wear my makeup literally every single workday so I figured I might as well share what I do. I'm definitely no pro so bare with me!

First I apply primer to my face (I've been using Julep's Black Canvas primer which is so-so) and also to my lids (for this I use Sephora Perfecting eyeprimer). That way my makeup stays on as long as possible and my eyeshadow doesn't crease! :) Then I use Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream as foundation, and conceal all the imperfections and dark circles with whatever concealer I can find. I probably really need something for puffiness as you can see in the picture below!

Primed and ready to go!

Next I apply my blush. I've recently developed a love for blush after receiving Nyx Cream blush in my ipsy bag a few months back. It's really easy to blend just the way you want it and stays on all day.

After my face is done I start on my eyes. I like to use a smaller flat brush for my shadows and use a goldish color to completely fill in my lids. I have really big eyes and really like to play with eye makeup as you will see! :)

Then, I apply a darker brownish shimmer color in the crease and blend it in really well, usually with a round shadow brush.
Tiddle says Hi!
I then add a highligher color up to my brows and blend it in to the darker brown. I sometimes use Benefit Watt's Up for this but today I just stuck to the colors in my Kat Von D True Romance palette in Saint. It is my favorite neutral palette. All the colors blend really well and stay on all day.

The next step is to apply your eyeliner. I've been using the Cailyn gel liner in Iron that I received in my Ipsy bag a few months ago. It is a nice dark grey color and I'm out of black so it works. :) I apply it to the top and to the water line and like to get a nice thick line and sometimes even do winged liner.

Then I apply two thick coats of Benefit's They're Real Mascara. It makes your eyelashes super long and I've never had any problems with clumping whatsoever.

Here's what it looks like so far.

Next, I use a brow pencil to make my brows a little more even and give them a little more arch. Then I use the Chella highlighter pencil underneath them.

The very last step is lips. I am really big into lip gloss, especially pink lip gloss, and I like to use everything from my ipsy bag, so I've been using Starlooks lip liner in Tickle Me Pink. Then I use Julep's Sweet Loraine lipstick from the Paris Jazz lip trio. On top of all of that I add Sephora's Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Pin-Up Pink. I know that's alot of gloss but I just LOVE IT!

And VOILA! That's my everyday makeup look and here is the finished product.

Steal of the week!

Yesterday I was at CVS filling some prescriptions and was browsing around the store, not expecting to find anything. I'm a Walgreens kind of gal usually because they have the best makeup and nail polish deals, but I was totally SHOCKED when I found this for 75% off!!!

For $4.99 I scored Katy Perry's Purr perfume!!! Anyone who knows me knows I am pretty much obsessed with Katy Perry... and cats. I love her style so much and she is so so pretty. Plus my daughter Adrienne loves her too so it's even better. :) I know it's a small bottle but it's the perfect size to carry around in my purse and smells amazing!!! So SO SO excited! Head over to your local CVS and pick some up! It's great!
