Julep Maven October Bombshell Unboxing!

For those of you who don't know what the Julep Maven program is, its a month polish subscription box with different style profiles. You receive either 2 polishes and one beauty product, two beauty products, or three polishes for $19.99 a month. It's usually hit or miss with me but lately I have been loving what they have!!
If you want to sign up you can use my referral link HERE and use the code "FREEBOX" to get your first box for free. They also give you the option of adding additional polishes on for like... $4.99 which is super cheap! That's how I ended up with almost 100 lovely Juleps in my collection. :)

I was so excited to receive my October Julep box today. I want to apologize in advance that I took the majority of these photos with my cell phone in my car. I couldn't contain myself any longer!!! This box is so awesome. Not only was it free but I love every single thing in it. I only wish I had ordered some add ons... especially Casper... which glows in the dark...

ANYWAYS here is my October Maven box this month!!!

Julep did a pretty bad job wrapping up my goodies this month... but that okay. It's what's inside that counts right?

And here's what it looked like without the tissue paper.

I received the Bombshell box this month, which is the one the quiz picked out for me... I'd say its pretty accurate. Bombshell is usually what I order.

This months Bombshell Maven box came with their Kajal eye glider (eyeliner) in a dual ended pencil in brown and black, a "black latex" color called Cleopatra, and a greenish teal microglitter color called Valerie which I've heard has been for sale at Sephora for awhile. They also added a little bag of candy corn which I love so that is pretty great too.

Not going to lie I was a little on the fence about the whole nailpolish maker making an eyeliner thing... but I actually really like what I see so far with this liner. I'm a bit of an eyeliner snob as you've probably noticed and I usually only use gel and liquid, but the Kajal liner I received is nice and dark and goes on really smooth. I only wish we could have chosen between brown and black and not gotten a dual pencil. I never use brown liner. Only black.
It also came with what Julep has deemed "the best sharpener they've ever used" but I haven't used it yet. I don't really see what could be so special about it.... :)

See how nice and rich the colors are?! So excited to use it for work tomorrow.

Here's another swatch picture for you.

This is really the only picture I took that properly shows all the shimmer in Valerie.. It's a really really pretty greenish teal color with lots of different colored shimmer. It only took two coats on my toes to be fully opaque.

With flash

And overcast outside

Maybe I'm missing something here but I'm pretty sure Cleopatra is just a matte black. Either way I'm really in love with it. It went on sooo smooth and again, two coats and it was totally opaque. Clean up was super easy and it dried really fast. Cleopatra is going to be a great color for Fall/Halloween for me.

Here is Cleopatra with Valerie dots as an accent... but you can't really see them. Both great colors though, just not so much together :)

And here is it again wish flash for you!

So that is my October Bombshell box. Overall it is super great and I will try out the eyeliner for real tomorrow and type up a little review of it!!! :) Have a good night and don't forget to follow us on here and on Facebook!!

Fall Makeup Look!!

So it's officially fall and I'm pretty excited. Fall makeup is my favorite because I get to use my favorite MAC eyeshadow with no guilt. I decided to do a makeup tutorial for you guys because I kind of love it and Nicole asked me to. :)

For my eyes I used:
Elf eye primer
MAC eyeshadow in Coppering
Kat Von D True Romance Palette in Saint
Elf Liquid Eyeliner
Starlooks Kohl eye pencil
Elizabeth Mott It's so Big Mascara

Here's my sad little makeup stash

I don't feel like listing the rest of my makeup right now because you can pretty much use whatever but if you have any questions because you just love something, ask! :)

The first step is to put on your face. lol Use primer and whatever foundation and concealer you wish to use and go ahead and prime your eyes. I didn't take a picture of this step because my camera died right after I took the picture of my makeup and I had to have something to do while I waited for a battery to charge!

Now we are going to start on the eyes. I applied the color second from the left in my Kat Von D palette to my entire lid and up to the brow bone.
Nice and Pretty :)

Next I applied the orangey color to my entire lid with a flat brush, then used a fluffy round one to blend it out.
 Nice and blendy :)

Then, I use the brown shimmery color third from the right in my Kat palette and applied to to the crease and the outer V portion of my eye. Again, I blended it really well. Then I took the darker brown matte color and added it to the V to make it just a liiiiittle bit darker.

And with the darker part

Now we are done with the eyeshadow part and if you do anything to your eyebrows go ahead and put whatever you use on them. I used a Chella eye pencil and Chella highlighter to give them a little more arch and make them match my hair.
I really really love the Chella brand. You should definitely check them out. I want to buy one of the eyebrow kits they look really neat!
P.S. I suck at doing my eyebrows. Sorry :P

Next we are going to add the eyeliner. Cat eyes are really in this season, and they are my favorite so it works out pretty great for me. Apply the liquid liner to your lid all the way across, then pull it out and up to make the wing. Then fill it in with your desired thickness. I usually do mine way thicker than I did today, not going to lie, but I was feeling pretty lazy.
Then I just put regular Kohl eyeliner on my lower lash line because I always make a big huge mess with the liquid down there and ruin everything. :)
Then you can curl your eyelashes and apply mascara or whatever you like to do. : )
See how I pulled it up and out?
I think I need more liner on the bottom now that I'm looking at this. LOL

And here's two more pictures in natural light for good measure.
Ignore those clumps.

I finished off my makeup today with a little bit of hot pink Avon blush and some bronzer. Then I applied a nude MAC lipgloss and a gold shimmery Sephora one on top of it. I love lipgloss.

Here's the finished product! Hope you like!

Woah Up close :)

Mario Mushroom nails!

Well, I'm a gamer girl and I love showing it on my nails. One day, I will figure out how to do World Of Warcraft nails.. Anyways, here are some pretty cute gamer nails that I just love doing and lets face it, who doesnt love Mario!?

So lets start with what I used!
For the eyes I used just my random black polish and LA Colors top coat
Julep- Bess, Julep- Clara, Julep- Payton, Julep- Nadia
Sinful Colors- Amethyst
Sally Hansen- Cherry Red, Sally Hansen- Hard to Get

So we start with our base coat of Clara.
My cuticles look pretty much like crap right now, so the polish on them actually makes them look better.
Anyways.
Next, paint the mushroom heads.
I really messed up my pinkie nail, so I just covered it until I fixed it..
Then, I use the dotting tool to make 5 dots on each head.

The first time I did this, I was pretty bad at dots (I dont know how you can be bad at dots, but I was..)
And last, we paint our eyes, let them dry, and put on a top coat!
And voila! We have Mario mushrooms!
And just because she is pretty amazing and watching her video made writing this blog take about an hour longer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk_qnaYcAn0 , go watch Jenna! She is hilarious.

Mani of the day!

Here's a quick look at my nails today for your viewing pleasure. :) Unfortunately the pink from yesterday didn't hold up in the shower but my friend let me borrow her new purple so I figured I'd play with it a little bit!

For this I used:
Sinful Colors - Lavander
Sinful Colors - Candy Coated
Julep - Rebel
Julep - Denver
Seche Vite Top Coat
Seacret - Dead Sea Cuticle Oil
Julep - Rockstar Hand Cream

I'm staying with the dot theme here... I just love them. Sorry for the over flashed pictures my camera is acting up and I can't find the charger for my Nikon! Enjoy! :)

I know it's almost fall and this is kind of "Springy" but I'm loving it!

Nails of the day!

I've been on a pink kick all week and decided to try something a little different with my nails. I found this barbie pink color I've had forever that I just love. It's by Spoiled and is called Cotton Mouth. I think I got it at CVS for a couple bucks. On top of it I used my dotting tool to do random black dots. Hope you enjoy as much as I do!!

Queen Helene Mint Julep Face Masque Review!

Sorry I haven't been posting as much lately. My goal is to post every single day or at least every other. I've been crazy busy with work and school!!

The same day that I purchased the Wet N Wild eyeshadow, I also went out on a limb and picked up a tube of Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque. I've been trying to fix my skin from all the oil cleansing//Julep primer experimentation these past few weeks. I'm still not sure what is causing the breakouts but this mask sure is helping to clear it up!!!  I'm pretty sure this product has been around forever. I remember my mom using it when I was growing up and never understood why she was always walking around looking like a green monster. lol

You can purchase this product from $2.50-$4 anywhere from online to Walgreens to Walmart and it is so so great!!

Queen Helene's website states, "Mint Julep Masque is the original natural home treatment to absorb excess oil, and help minimize the appearance of pores. Simply apply Mint Julep Masque to your clean face and neck. As it firms and hardens within minutes, it draws out impurities from your pores. After the masque is removed, your skin will feel clean, refreshed and smooth."

I like to leave it on between 15-30 minutes and rinse it off with really really hot water then towel my face dry. After I remove the masque my face feels so soft and clean and by the next morning any pimples I had are completely dried up! It's so awesome! :) It kind of burned the first time I used it but everytime since it just leaves my face feelings a little cold and tingly. For anyone that is having problems with blackheads, pimples, oily skin, or just wants to indulge with some cucumbers on their eyes every once in awhile. I totally recommend this product!!! I even got my husband addicted to using it!!

And here is your proof!!

Steal of the Week!

This week I was shopping at Walgreens for some nail items and ran across these Wet N Wild eyeshadow palettes for $2.00 on sale!

I purchased the one called "I'm getting Sunburnt" and it is so great! They offer three highly pigmented shades with little to no fallout and last all day long. I'm going to definitely be going back to purchase more of these!!

Here is a photo of my Wet N Wild colors in the morning sunlight :)

And here is indoor lighting! I tried to keep it a little less crazy due to being at work :)

This is definitely the best and cheapest drugstore eyeshadow I have ever used in my life! I will definitely be purchasing more and reviewing them soon!!

September Ipsy Unboxing!

While I'm not totally thrilled about my September "Classic Beauty" Ipsy bag (probably my least favorite yet) here is what I received!!
**Warning spoiler alert!!**

A lot of people were complaining about the actual bag this month, but honestly it is my favorite part! I am loving the bright blue and the weird pattern. It's going to be my new lipgloss bag for my purse! :) lol

This month I received Freeman paper masks, Elizabeth Mott It's so Big Mascara, Nyx single eyeshadow, Caiyln lip balm, and a Starlook's Kohl eye pencil. It also came with a tiny trial size of Michelle Phan's Em makeup on the insert.

The paper masks they sent out are from Freeman feeling beautiful. They are $1.99 each on their website and I believe you can purchase them at Walmart. I tried out the Purifying one and it was pretty strange. The mask didn't fit my face correctly. The eye holes were way too close together and I wanted it to stick to the sides of my nose where I get the most blackheads and it didn't. I didn't really notice a difference in my skin either, it was just kind of sticky when I took it off.

Here's an awkward picture of me with the mask on. Haha My husband said I looked scary. See what I mean about the nose part? I probably wouldn't buy them but it was nice to try it out. I'm all about new skin care stuff. :)

The next product is Cailyn Lip Balm in Big Apple. I tried this out today and hated it so much I took it off immediately. It felt really dry and weird when I put it on and the color looked absolutely horrible on me. I should have just left it alone and traded it. This retails for $19.00 and you can purchase it here at the Cailyn site. I received a gel liner a few months back from this brand that I LOVE so I was pretty disappointed I didn't like this.

Here's a closer look at the eyeliner pencil. I don't typically use pencil liner, I like to use gel or liquid so I was hesitant about this item. However, let me tell you this stuff is pretty great! Unlike other pencil eyeliners I've used it goes on really nice and dark and smooth. I usually have to like light my pencils on fire and let them melt a little to get a nice dark line, but this stuff works like a charm. The only downfall is it rubs off pretty easy. I accidentally bumped my eye earlier and it smeared all over my hand. So far, in my opinion Starlooks is a pretty great brand. I have a lip pencil from them and it goes on just as nice. The color I received is called Obsidian and it's a really black, black. It retails for $12.00 on the Starlooks website.

**EDIT** I've actually decided since I wrote this review on the liner that I don't really like so it much after all.. It doesn't last all day and is far from waterproof. I would never ever ever pay 12.00 for this liner. If I as much as touch my eyes it simply smears off. Ugh.

I wasn't particularly thrilled about receiving another mascara because last month's totally sucked, but this is pretty great! It makes my eyelashes super long and thick and I love it. This is going to be my new second favorite mascara, the first being Benefit's They're Real. The brush is shaped differently than my other mascaras and is really soft. It's by Elizabeth Mott (who I've never heard of) and is called It's so Big. Retail is $19.99 for a full size and you can get it here! The website also states it's cruelty free which is pretty cool! :)

Here's my Nyx shadow
And here's a swatch.
This is my very first Nyx shadow. I love my Nyx cream blush so I was pretty excited that everyone was getting eyeshadow this month. I, for one, can never have enough eyeshadow. I also love getting full size products in my ipsy bags. The color I received is Deep Charcoal. It reminds me of Urban Decay S&M but maybe just a little darker. I like grey eyeshadow for nights going out so I will probably use this every now and again. It's nice and pigmented and goes on shiny and smooth. I used this with my Elf primer and it stayed on all day. I would have rather received a light color that would be work appropriate but this is nice none the less. It costs $4.50 on the Nyx website. If you like eyeshadow I definitely recommend this brand!

At the bottom is the teeny tiny sample of Em. I wish they had sent out a bigger one especially since she is one of the Ipsy girls.

So that's my September Ipsy bag! Not so horrible, but not the greatest! I wish I had received Jesse's Girl Liquid liner or Butter LONDON nail polish, but there's always next time. Here are Ipsy's coupon codes this month, there's some pretty good ones:
Ipsy is a really great subscription service where you can try 4-5 mystery beauty products every month (I've never received less than 5). It comes in a cool bag, and as you have seen the bags are usually worth way more than the $10 you pay for it. My bag's value this month totals to roughly $61.50. If you like trying out new makeup before you buy it at full price and end up hating it you should definitely give them a try! I've found tons of new brands that I love and didn't know I needed in my life until Ipsy!
