Ipsy March 2014 "Destination Beauty" Unboxing!

I'm a little late posting this as I've had my Ipsy bag for a week or so now, but I'm not TOTALLY thrilled with it, nor am I thrilled with Ipsy right now after the whole PopBeauty lipgloss disaster last month. They still haven't emailed me back about my defective gloss, and I emailed them over 2 weeks ago. So take that as you will.

For those of you who don't already know, Ipsy, formerly myGlam, is a subscription service I usually love created by Michelle Phan, the YouTube makeup guru. For for low low price of $10 a month, they send you a cute little bag filled with 4-5 deluxe sample to full size beauty products from makeup to nail polish to skincare. I usually REALLY love my bag every month, and have been subscribed for almost a year now. :) If you're interested in learning more about Ipsy, seeing my past bags that I haven't posted on here, or want an honest opinion about it, don't hesitate to ask in the comments below! And if you love the looks of this bag, feel free to subscribe using my referral link HERE!

The theme for this month was "Destination Beauty". It's a pretty cute theme considering March is usually the time for Spring Break and travelling. Here is a look!

This month I received:
Nyx  Love in Rio eyeshadow palette
Pixi Primer
Chella Blue eyeliner pen
Bare Minerals Moxie Lipstick

Like I said, this definitely isn't the most awesome bag I've ever received, but I do really like the Bare Minerals Lipstick! Here's some swatches of the lippie and the eyeliner!
The eyeliner is super bright blue, and while I haven't used it on my eyes yet, it stayed on my hand for awhile! :)
This is a swatch of the Nyx "Love in Rio" palette. I really like these colors and they seem very pigmented and smooth on my hand.

Well, that's really all I have for you about March Ipsy! Stay tuned for my March Starlook's Starbox review!

Jessica's Best of 2013

Hey everyone! My name is Jessica and I am the new girl on the blog. Here is a little about me then on to my Top 10 of 2013. I am a lover of all things girly and have collected, blogged about, and reviewed makeup and beauty products for a couple of years now. I am a single mom of 2 little girls and will be turning the big 4-0 in a few months. Ashley just happens to be my cousin and I am so thrilled that she asked me to contribute to this blog. She has great style and I am glad that I can share my love for makeup and beauty products with someone in my family.

On to my top 10!

These are products that I either found and fell in love with in 2013 or that I have continued to use because they are just that awesome.

1. Mac's Mineralized SkinFinish
I had read great things about this and seen many good reviews on Youtube. So, I had to try it. I can't believe I waited as long as I did. I love this stuff. I don't like to wear a lot of foundation and most times just use a light BB Cream or tinted moisturizer. THIS will cover anything and can give you full coverage if you want it to. It doesn't feel heavy and gives a nice matte finish without being too powdery. I used it in shade 'Light'. I don't have a lot of high-end stuff, because I just don't like spending a lot of money, but this is definitely worth the $$.

Number 2. Urban Decay's Naked Basics Palette

\
I don't own any of Urban Decay's Naked Palettes... except this one. I just can't justify paying $50 dollars. Though, I am glad I decided to get this. At $27.00 (US) I felt it was worth it at least to try. I have used it almost daily since buying it a year ago. The 1st color, 'Venus', is a perfect brow highlight and isn't matte. Its a slightly shimmered off-white/cream. The 4th & 5th colors, 'Naked2' & 'Faint' are perfect for the crease and work great for a light makeup application to give definition without being too dark.

I originally bought the dewy finishing spray and really liked it. Then I watched a video of Melmphs where she raved about the matte spray so, again, I had to try it after watching her video. I love this stuff! I am on my second bottle. It sets the Mac Mineralized SkinFinish perfectly and I often feel like I don't have any makeup on. After spritzing it on my face, I have a little fan that I let it dry with. From experience, I learned that I need to set my makeup with this before I put my mascara on, or else I am look like I have been crying. It's affordable and works well.

Number 4. Maybelline FitMe Concealer

Working at a large chain pharmacy, I often times will browse the makeup isle on my lunch break. I had a few customers and coworkers say they liked this line. When I needed a new under eye concealer, I decided to give this a try. I chose the number 10 and it was a little too dark, so I went back and got the number 15 and its a perfect match. I have this darkish vein under my left eye and this covers it without being cakey.

Number 5. Elf's Small Stipple Brush

As per last year's list, I am a huge fan of Elf Studio line brushes. This has by far become my favorite brush and use it for foundation and concealer. It blends beautifully. It isn't too big and floofy nor too small to smear. Its just right.

Number 6. Wet n' Wild Rose Golden Goddess to Reflect Shimmer Palette

I bought this on a whim and its become my go-to busher/bronzer. Its not shimmery enough to make me look like a disco ball, but its just enough to give a gorgeous warm glow. The color works well with my skin tone and hair color, but I think it will will with pretty much any skin tone.

Number 7. Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Moisturizer

I received this in a PopSugar Must Have box last year and it is AH-Mazing! First of its all organic and natural. Secondly, its feels really good and refreshing on the skin. And thirdly, it smells like lemon candy. Its no secret that I am turning 40 and I could use all of the help I can get. I can really tell a difference in my skin since I started using this. A little goes a long way and I still have plenty left but will pay the high price to purchase more when I run out. Its worth it.

Number 8. Physician's Formula Organic Wear Fake Out Mascara

It is light and lovely and gives my lashes an almost ethereal affect. I got this at Walmart in a buy 1 get one free package. I gave the extra to my coworker and after a few weeks of use, she came to me raving about how much she liked it and how it made her lashes look. I have to agree. When I wear black mascara, this is the one I reach for every time.

Number 9. Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer

The ONLY thing I don't like about this stuff is the smell and it really isn't that bad. It feels amazing on the lips, the color payoff is like whoa, and it lasts. Its just gorgeous. It took forever for CVS (my place of employment) to carry it so I had to find it elsewhere. Its affordable and there are several colors to choose from, both shimmery and cream. I would definitely recommend it.

Number 10. Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge

This is another thing I received in a Pop Sugar Must Have box. If you haven't read any reviews about the Beauty Blender, do yourself a favor and go read them. There are many like the Beauty Blender but this is the real deal. Once you get it wet, the size doubles and becomes this cloud like sponge and blends foundation flawlessly. I would repurchase this anytime!

I hope you liked my review of my top 10 of 2013 and I would love to hear your thoughts and what your you top 10 beauty products of the last year are. Cheers! ~ Jessica

Schick Hydro Silk BzzAgent BzzKit!

I'm not sure if you guys know this or not, but I'm a free sample junkie. I love them. Pinchme.com (they send boxes of samples that I'm pretty sure they release every Tuesday if you want to sign up use my referral HERE. It's 100% free and I've gotten ALL KINDS of stuff from lotion to soap to perfume to a chocolate) and Shop4freebies.com (just a regular site that lists lots of samples)are my favorite sites. I was searching for new ones the other day and ran across BzzAgent!! I did a little research and it seemed pretty cool so I signed up, and did like a million profile surveys.
I'm pretty new with them but here is what I am gathering. It seems to be kind of like Influenster. You get a score that is dependent on your activity level, as well as your social media accounts. You do profile surveys that determine what "BzzKits" you're eligible. They are really short, but there's a ton of them. It seems to work though, because there's definitely some kits I wouldn't want to get (men's beard trimmer, Yeah don't need that). Anyway, so they give you a score and then you get approved for these Bzzkit things. Within a week or two of signing up I was already approved for one! A good one at that! Schick Hydro Silks are my FAVORITE razor, but I find the original ones to be a bit too harsh for my skin. They approved me for the Sensitive skin hydro silk program. I received it today and it's a pretty great free kit!
Not only did it come with a Schick Hydro Silk razor, but it came with 2 refills, a thingy to hang it in the shower, a coupon for free Skintimate shave gel, and FOUR $4 off razor coupons!!!
See! How awesome is this!?
Now that I have it, I'm just waiting for the activities to open up so I can start reviewing!!
If you're not a member of this site totally sign up! Because I've been waiting for a box from Influenster and have basically given up, but I know BzzKit actually sends them because my friend Melissa received a kit too for something else! They don't do referrals but head over to their WEBSITE HERE and sign up!

Birchbox December 2013 Unboxing!

WARNING! Lots of pictures!
So I've been ever so patiently waiting for my very first Birchbox to arrive for over two weeks and IT FINALLY CAME TODAY!!! Hooray!! :)
For those of you who don't already know, Birchbox is pretty much the first beauty subscription box there was, and has been around for awhile. Like one of my favorites, Ipsy, for just $10 a month they send you 4-5 samples of higher end products to try out before you buy them. I like the idea of having both Birchbox and Ipsy because most of the time they do very different brands in their sampling. Plus Birchbox sends out special treats in their boxes, that so far, I'm pretty impressed with. I think these cheaper sub boxes are a GREAT way to try out products that you normally wouldn't buy on your own. I've already fallen in love with one of my items I received!
Another great benefit is that when you review your items you build up points that you can redeem in the Birchbox store for fullsized things that you love. You also get points for purchases and referrals. Every 100= $10 in the Birchbox store.
If you'd like a referral to Birchbox, please use my referral link HERE. :)
Keep reading to see what I got!! Spoiler alert!

Merry Christmas Everyone! Santa Nails for Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all of my readers!! I hope you and your families have an awesome day today!! :D
For Christmas, I'm just going to show you my Santa nails I did last night, since these are going to be the last Christmas nails I post until next year. 2014 is going to be the best nail art year yet! I can feel it!! They are a little bit messy, but hey, it's all about the holiday spirit right?! My Santa looks kind of like a white Papa Smurf but that's okay :D

For these I used:
China Glaze - Just be Claws
Butter London - Marbs
Julep - Nicolette (This is a really awesome white, Chynel doesn't believe me, but I swear it rivals Cotton Buds by Butter London)
Julep - Minnie
Sinful Colors - Black on Black
HK Girl Topcoat! ( The best topcoat ever made, if you haven't tried it, do, because it will change your life!)

I know they're messy and this photo quality is awful but I think they're pretty adorable!!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays you guys!

Top Ten Favorite Nail Polishes!

So this was really way harder than I anticipated. Doing my top ten lippies was pretty easy, but there's just so many polishes that I couldn't live without. I'm probably going to do a top ten Julep post later on, but for now, here are my top ten favorite polishes of the moment!!! :)

Here's flash vs. no flash just to give you a better idea of color. Since it's nighttime and there is no sunlight for me to take pics in.
From left to right:
Who's ready for some messy swatches?!?!?! I know I am!
From top to bottom: Kai, Carly, Rebel, Cotton Buds
Cotton buds is the most amazing white ever. If you don't own it, you definitely need to. Just saying. Chynel and I are in agreement.
Here's a shot of Denver with no flash
Carly is really hard to photograph without it glaring up. And you can't really see the awesome texture of Kai.
But you kind of can here.

This hand's even messier!! This is Carter, Popples, Jackie, Forget Now, and Avery
By the way I just got Avery today and am in love. It's like the most perfect Barbie pink. It looks like pink plastic I love it. Not overly shiny and it's amazing.
Carter is amazing because its really really glittery and nice and textured. The pixie dusts are so textured that I can use a topcoat, and still feel some of it through. With the Julep Sea Salts, I can't.
Popples is also one of my most favorites. I know I already did a post about it but I just LOVE the glitter!

Well, that's pretty much it!! Tomorrow I will be doing the Top Ten Eye post. I'm really excited for it. :)
What are some of your favorite polishes?????? There are TONS more that I love that I didn't put on here. Like Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker, any glow in the dark polish, All of the other pixie dusts. It was really really hard to narrow it down. I just decided to go with what I can't seem to stop painting my nails with. :)
As always, don't forget to subscribe and follow us on Facebook to get all the updates!

UmCheeky December Mini Review

Finally, this week I received my UmCheeky order for December. It was technically supposed to be for November, but my card expired it and I didn't realize it until like two weeks later.OOPSIE :)
This is probably going to be my last month with UmCheeky, since I have gotten like ten pairs of underwear from them and I don't really need any more in the same style. Currently they only send out "cheeky" style underwear, and quite honestly I would like to receive some boyshorts and thongs as well. They say they are going to add that option in later, and if they do I will resubscribe in a heartbeat.

For those of you who haven't read my other posts on UmCheeky, It stands for Unmentionably Cheeky. They're a really great underwear subscription service where for only $6 a month you can get two super cute pairs of undies right in your mail box with 100% satisfaction guarantee. While I've had a couple of quality based issues with the goodies I've received, they have excellent customer service and any tiny issue you have, will be fixed immediately. One time I received a pair with a rip in them, and they sent me TWO as a replacement within like two days. That's what I call good customer service. :) They're a small company based in New York, run by a husband and wife.
This is what I received this month from Um Cheeky:

Overall, I'm pretty please with the two I received. The only issue I have is that I have received these exact undies in different colors already. That's okay though, because I really liked both styles! If you're looking to amass a HUGE underwear selection, this is definitely an option to consider! Like I said it's only $6 a month, if you use the code FALL13 you will lock in that price FOREVER!

Later tonight I will be posting some more nail art! I can't wait!
Have you tried UmCheeky? What did you think??

Until next time,
Xx Ashley C.

Christmas Tree Nails Pictorial!

As promised, here is a tutorial for super easy Christmas Tree nails! You can use any colors you want, but I used:
Julep - Rebel
Zoya - Chita (This links to amazon where you can buy the fall '13 pixies for 7.34 with FREE SHIPPING!!!)
Butter London - Marbs
Pretty & Polished - The Amazing Technicolor Topcoat
Seche Vite Topcoat

Start by painting your nails whatever base color you picked. :)  I used Julep Rebel for my base. It's my favorite matte silver holo.
After your base color dries. Apply tape in a triangle shape to whatever fingers you want to add the tree to. You can use striping tape for this as well, but I found that if you get some of the sticky off the regular tape first and stick it on, it's easier since you don't have to worry about painting beyond the stripe tape.

Then paint on your tree. With the tape you don't have to worry about making a big mess.
Let that dry for about a minute then remove the tape while it's still a little wet. Be careful so you don't peel off any of the nailpolish.

Next decorate your tree! I used Butter London Marbs to add on zig zags and added a little gem to the top for a star. :)
Then, If you want you can add some glitter so it looks like there are ornaments, and add your topcoat to finish them off! :)

That's all there is too it! Easy right?! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and as always make sure and like us on Facebook and follow us on here so you don't miss any posts! :)

Happy Holidays!

Ipsy December 2013 Unboxing!

It's that time again!! My December Ipsy bag has arrived. Aside from the perfume leakage that it seems like everyone experienced, I'm mostly okay with my bag. It wasn't the most exciting bag or anything. I figured there would be a Christmas theme or something, but I did redeem my points for a Beauty Blender that I am very excited to have in my life! :)

Here's what I received: English Laundry Perfume, Nyx Lipstick, Nicka K Nail Polish, Be a Bombshell The One Stick, Pop Beauty Eyeshadow Trio, and my Beauty Blender

For those of you who aren't subscribed, Ipsy is an awesome subscription service where for $10 a month you receive 5 full or deluxe sample sized beauty items, ranging from skin care, to makeup, to nail polish. If you are thinking about signing up, make sure and check out my other reviews located HERE for November,  HERE for October, and HERE for September. Then use my referral link please HERE

Here is a closer look at the Nicka K Nail Polish I received. I don't really like red, but it's a pretty nice bright color. I traded it for some eyelashes. I'm glad I didn't receive the ugly brown nail polish color by Nicka K.
This is the Pop Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Smokin' Hot. It's a pretty nice little palette for smoky eyes and I tried it out tonight. I did unfortunately notice a little bit of creasing in the middle color, but I think a better eye primer would solve that. Here's some swatches and my makeup. :)
I really like the middle grey color. It's got a really nice shimmer to it, and the dark color is great for creases. A little goes a long way with these colors.
Here's all three on. They blend together very nicely.
Here's the Be a Bombshell... The One Stick. I received the color Flustered. It's a really nice red color with a tiny bit of shimmer. I haven't tried it on my cheeks or eyes yet. I don't think I would actually use this color on my eyes, I think it would crease alot and look weird, but its a really great lipstick and is huge.
Sorry for the blurry photo, but here is my Nyx Round Lipstick in Iris. It looks really pretty on my hand, but totally washes out on my face. I like nude lipsticks and had high hopes. However, it does look great mixed with The One Stick. Here's some swatches:

And here's the two colors mixed together on my lips. It created a really nice, soft pinkish red color that I absolutely love. Definitely my new favorite color for winter.

Here's the perfume sample. It's a 5mL size sample which is pretty nice and the bag came with a men's and a women's. They both smell really nice in my opinion and my husband was super excited to actually receive something he could use for once. Unfortunately, however, they leaked, so I will have to wait to receive my replacement to get the full product sample.

Last but not least, my beauty blender. I used it today for the first time and it pretty much changed my makeup life. I don't usually use liquid foundations because they go on too thick and cause me to look weirdly colored or break out. But this bad boy made it go on like a dream. It has a small end for precision which I really love for my under eye area. :) Everyone should own one of these!!

Here's a list of promo codes from this month's bag! Hope you enjoyed the post! I can't wait to receive my first Birch Box in a few weeks so I can review it too!

Pop Beauty 25% off any Purchase - EyeLuvPop
Be a Bombshell 40% off any purchase and a free blush - Ipsy40

Em Cosmetics Waterliner Review

Yesterday I finally got around to using my Em Waterliner in Amethyst that I traded for my grey. This product came in my November Ipsy bag as a 6th item bonus, and I have been meaning to review it for some time now.

Ipsy is a wonderful subscription service that you can sign up using my referral link HERE. For just $10 you receive 4-5 (and apparently sometimes 6) deluxe sample or full size products automatically every month. Look through the blog to see the unboxings, I haven't been disappointed yet! If you like trying new makeup for a low low price that you normally wouldn't buy because of price, or you've never heard of it, definitely give it a look!

Back to the eyeliner, here's a little overview of what the product is:
Em cosmetics was started by Michelle Phan from YouTube in August of this year. I've always LOVED her Youtube videos, so I was really excited to try her makeup line. I swear she is the reason I know how to blend my eyeshadow. lol Her Intense Waterliner is supposed to be waterproof without "budging or smudging", even on your waterline. It comes in a wide array of colors, 12 to be exact, from black to gold to green. It went on like a dream, and I kind of want to buy some in black because purple isn't exactly something I can wear every day. However, it was fun to play with. You can purchase it HERE.

Here's the grey liner. Before I traded.

Who's ready for some swatches!?!

I decided to do a winged eyeliner for this look with some white eyeshadow and black liner on the bottom. It was a little hard to do because the tip of the pencil isn't exactly sharp, but it comes with a really nice smudging tool on the end so you wouldn't have to dirty up your brushes in the process. The liner itself is really bright and went on so smooth that I'd almost compare it to Urban Decay's 24/7 glide on pencil. Close, but not quite as amazing.

Here's another picture with all of my makeup. The purple color really brought out the brown in my eyes which was excellent.
And here's one more, with flash of the other side. Overall,  I'd definitely purchase another one of these in a different color, but only if they went on sale because they are $20 and I'm cheap. The black and the emerald are calling my name. But, if you haven't tried it yet and you're looking for a good, easy to apply, long lasting colored liner, this is definitely something you should add to you beauty arsenal. It's worth the price. I hate eyeliners that smudge, and this one definitely DOES NOT.

As always, don't forget to subscribe and follow on Facebook for all of our posts. Be on the lookout for a Super cute and relatively easy Snowman Nail tutorial coming late tonight or tomorrow!

Until next time,
Xx Ashley C.

November Ipsy Unboxing!!!

I seriously can't believe it's already mid November. This year has totally flown by since I got my new job in March. But, that being said, it's Ipsy time again!! Ipsy unboxing posts are always my favorite to do every month!! This month's bag contained 6 items which I thought was really awesome. The 6th item was a bonus item from Em Cosmetic's which is Michelle Phan's makeup line if you don't already know. I don't know much about her makeup but I know I love her makeup tutorials on YouTube.

For those of you who don't already know, Ipsy is a subscription service where for $10 every month you get a mystery bag of 4-5 deluxe sample or full size beauty items. Plus they come in a cute bag and you get to fill out a profile to tailor the bags to your beauty needs and what you like and don't like. I am very happy with this subscription. I almost signed up for Birchbox instead but I'm really glad I didn't. I've received everything from nail polish, to lipstick, gloss, bronzer, blush, mascara, and beyond. It's a really fun program if you're in to trying new makeup brands you wouldn't normally buy for yourself.

If you want to sign up, please use my referral link HERE, you won't regret it!

So here is my November bag in all it's glory! I am pleased with most everything I received this month.
I got:
  • Kiss everEZlashes double pack
  • Em Waterliner in Amazing Grey
  • Starlooks Gem eye pencil in Amethyst
  • Nailtini Nail laquer in Caviar cocktail
  • Be A Bombshell Lip Crayon in Shameless
  • Pixie Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched

First up is the Kiss lashes! As you can see I've already used them. I received the lashes in 03. I love false eyelashes so much. My regular lashes are pretty long already, but I love to play with falsies!! :) These are pretty good false lashes in my opinion and they come with an applicator. I found that the glue that comes with them kind of sucks, but I had some other kind laying around so no worries there. I don't really care for the applicator either. My lashes just kept getting stuck to it. Fingers work better for me. These retail for 19.95 on Amazon. You can purchase them HERE. A little pricey for lashes in my opinion, but they might be cheaper elsewhere. Oh just kidding, I found a single pair on Amazon for $2.01 with $3.99 shipping. Definitely worth that. Go and get them HERE
Here's a picture of them on after they'd been on all day. They blend in really nicely with my real ones so they don't look super trashy and fake. :)

Next is the Starlook Gem Eyeliner in Amethyst. I haven't used this on my eyes yet because I'm trading it for the Topaz, but I have swatched it (I'll show you in a minute), and it's really really pretty. It is a super shimmery light purple color that I think would be perfect for winged eyeliner or in the corners or your eyes. Everyone needs a little bling eyeliner in their life right? lol It retails for $14.00 on the Starlooks site and you can get it HERE. I will probably pick up one of these in Myth (a shiny black) and Fancy (A shiny green) while ipsy has the 40% off going on. They look so pretty!!
Here is the "Amazing Grey" Em liner. It's a really nice Charcoal grey color and is supposed to be waterproof. It also has a little smudger at the end which is pretty convenient if you like to smudge. :) I've been wanting to try something from this line for a long time now, so I'm pretty happy we were all given something to test!! I'll definitely review the purple one after I get it from Michelle on Monday. These retail for $20 and there are 12 different colors to choose from! You can get them HERE
Here's the swatches. Isn't the Starlooks color so pretty?!

Next up is the Nailtini polish in Caviar Cocktail. I'm so glad I got this color and not Champagne because I HATE bronze nail polish and I love silver. I have so many silver nail polishes and I could use a million more. This color is a darker silver color and will look really great with some little fake diamonds or studs on it. I'm much more impressed with it than the Mai Tai color we received a few months ago. Nail Tini is a 3 free brand which is pretty cool. It retails for $13 on the nail tini website but you can buy it for $11.02 on Amazon and save a couple bucks HERE
Here's a box swatch.

I also received a Lip Crayon by Be a Bombshell in the color Shameless. Not sure if I'm going to use this or not, I may try to trade it. The last lip crayon I got I absolutely hated. Shameless is a burgundy shimmer color. I know it's fall but I probably would have kept this if I'd gotten, I don't know, hot pink or something. lol  It retails for $14 and you can buy it HERE.
It looks alot brighter than this swatch in person. I imagine it's buildable as well. A nice shade for fall though.

Last is the Pixi bronzer. I wanted to love this. I love bronzer. I use it every day. Unfortunately I received the light color and it totally disappears on my skin. It has a nice shimmer to it, but other than that it's pretty much useless for me. This is the second Pixi product I've gotten that I didn't love. I don't understand exactly who this color is supposed to "bronze" but it's definitely not me. You can buy this HERE on Amazon for $17.85 and it comes with a Kabuki brush. Which is always nice to have. The packaging is cute though. :)
Can you see it? I sure can't. lol

All in all, bronzer shade aside, I'm still thrilled with the bag. Hell, I'm even thrilled with the bag itself. I forgot to mention it. It's a shiny gold color and I love all things shiny. :) The total value of my bag was $90+ dollars and for $10 that is a STEAL! Again if you want to sign up my referral link is right HERE!!

Here comes my favorite part of the Ipsy Unboxing!!! Coupon Codes!! Here there are in no particular order:
