Frankenstein Nails for Halloween 2014

Good morning lovelies! I've been trying for WEEKS to figure out what kind of Halloween nails I wanted to do this year... and tonight I think I've finally decided on Frankenstein/Bride of Frankenstein nails! :)
Now, forewarning, I'm not like super awesome at nail art or anything, but I can tell a BIG improvement from last year, and Halloween is my favorite time to do cutesy things with my nails! :) I still kind of want to figure out how to do some witch nails, or zombie nails..

SO without further adieu, HERE THEY ARE in all their not so spooky glory!

For this mani I used:
I've had this China Glaze for awhile now... I have absolutely NO idea why I hadn't used it until now.... because it's basically the most amazing lime green EVER. You can't tell in this picture because I used Instagram filters and whatnot, but here's a picture of it in all it's amazing glory pre-cleanup and pre-franken-nails!
Lime green WHAT!? This is with my matte topcoat over it, but it didn't really need it, as it's super neon and kind of matte already. I love it so much, like if I could only pick on polish color for the rest of my life, I'd definitely pick this one! What do you think?!

Okay so ANYWAY, this is a super easy mani to do, if you want a real tutorial, I can make one for you, so just comment if you do and I'll make a pictorial. :) I'd be happy to! I haven't made one in ages, and I kind of love making them!!

Directions:
  1. Paint nails your base green color.
  2. After that's dry, on your three non accent nails, using a black polish and striper brush, make stick marks randomly over the nail. Two will probably suffice, as some of mine have three and look messy-ish.
  3. Next, on the nails you want to be Frankensteins, paint in the hair using the same striper brush. I made my Franken... Man have squared off hair, and the Bride of Frankenstein have her classic big hair.
  4. Next I drew on the mouth of my Frankenstein using the same stitch type design as the non-accent nails.
  5. I let that dry for a minute to avoid smearing as much as possible, then used a larger dotting tool and my white polish (Nicolette) to dot on the eyes. I definitely had shaky hands last night when I did these and one of my eyes got a little wonky.. so be careful!
  6. Then I used a small dotting tool to dot in the eyes with black.
  7. Add the silver (Rebel) zig-zag streak to Bride of Frankenstein's hair.
  8. Draw on pink (or whatever color) bow, and you're done with your nail art! Unless you want Bride of Frankenstein to have little eyelashes and a nose like mine, in which case you can paint those on whenever.
  9. Topcoat and DONE! I used matte topcoat over these just because I'm out of regular. lol But either would probably look awesome!
SO yeah! Super easy semi-tutorial for your Sunday!
Anyone have any wicked awesome Halloween inspired manis to share?! I'd love to see them! I did some candy corns, ghosts, and pumpkins last year I think! I love Halloween Nail Art!!

Easy Nails for the 4th of July!

I totally meant to post this BEFORE the 4th, but apparently my body decided to sleep through it. ANYWAY here are my holiday nails! They were super easy to do, and I think they're pretty cute myself!
The colors I used for this mani are:
Vapid Lacquer Quick Dry Topcoat

Click on any of the links above for more info or to purchase! Zoya Libery is part of their Pixie Dust line, and Cosmo is a Magical Pixie! I love them both!
For this essentially I painted my accent nails with America. I had to fish out stars but it was worth it. It's a really neat color even though I only use it like once or twice a year. A must have.
I painted the rest of my nails with Liberty then used a makeup sponge for the gradient effect with cosmo. Super easy right?!

Until later,

Julep "Golden Ticket" Mystery Box!!

Okay so as you all know I LOVE Julep mystery boxes!! Usually they do a box with a LE polish in it but this month, they have switched it up a bit!
They just announced their Golden Ticket mystery boxes. For only $24.99 you can pick up one of three versions of this box packed with $100+ of Julep polish and goodies. There's no product overlap this month, which is awesome and I think it's due to everyone complaining about getting multiple boxes and them all having the same thing in them!!
There will be one lucky winner in EACH version of the box who will receive a "Golden Ticket". A gold capped Julep bottle filled with star confetti. If you get it, you win a chance to name a Julep polish in an upcoming collection, and you will receive 25 bottles for yourself, or to share with friends!!! I WOULD personally LOVE the chance to win a polish that I could name. I'd name it after my daughter for sure.
The sheer novelty of this box basically has me sold, and I plan on purchasing at LEAST one of the versions once I see some sneak peeks!!! I'm SURE Melissa will probably end up getting all three through, so watch out for her unboxings!!! :D

HERE are the links to the mystery boxes this month!!

\
Sorry I don't have any pictures for you guys of these boxes this month, there aren't really very many since they are all 100% mystery!!!!!

And make sure and check out the Maven program too!

See you guys later today with another review courtesy of Tomoson!

Cherry Blossom Nails for Spring!!!

No serious tutorial or anything for these really, but they were WAY easier than I thought they'd be!

All you need is:
Brown Polish
Base color polish(es)
Dark Pink
Light pink
Striping brush
Dotting tool and/or pen

I used:
Julep - Fiore
Julep - Bess
Julep - Denver
Julep - Carrie
Julep - Nellie
HK Girl Topcoat
Striping Brush
Crappy old pen

Basically you just paint your nails the base colors. I used Julep Bess with Julep Denver as an accent nail although you can't really tell in the photo. Let that dry. I applied Topcoat here to make it dry faster. HK Girl is my go to for nail art because it dries crazy fast, doesn't shrink, and doesn't smear.
Then you take your brown color and paint on branches. The best part is they don't have to be perfect or anything because the flowers are going to be going on top of them. I used Julep Fiore because it's the only brownish polish I have but it's a little dark.
Then randomly on the branches make dots in the shape of flowers with your light pink color. I tired to make them not all the same size, and used Julep Carrie.
Then in the middle of those "flowers"  use your dark pink to make a dot in the middle and Voila!  Cherry Blossom Nails!!!  I used Julep Nellie for the dark pink.  It's my favorite.
Top coat again and done!!!

So there's your super easy and fast tutorial for my nails of the day and HERE THEY ARE in all their novice glory!

Julep Speckled for Spring 2014 Mystery Box Details!

Julep has announced their newest "Speckled for Spring" mystery boxes, just in time for the Easter holiday next weekend! These are REALLY great, and I'm sad to say I will likely be missing out on them. They follow the theme that they kind of sneak peeked with the Maven box this month of speckled special polishes!
Check out the link below to view the boxes!
Julep Beauty Inc.
As usual you can pick up a mystery box for $24.99, in which you get $100+ worth of nailpolish & beauty products. There are two boxes with LE colors, and one that is 100% mystery! I'm not sure how long these are going to be on sale, but the regular mystery box usually sells out first so if that's the one you want then hurry and purchase one!!! They're usually for sale for about a week or so!
Click here to find out more!

Without further ado:

icon icon
The first box contains the LE color "Kimberly", described as a "spring inspired wisteria creme with black speckles". I personally LOVE these speckle polishes!!

icon icon
And THIS is "Emerson", described as a "powder-blue creme with black speckles". I'm really having a hard time deciding which of these I like more.

So those are the new boxes! And if you want to check out the 100% mystery box, click here!

Rainbow nails!!

This post is going to be super quick but if I don't share these I might very well explode.
So, there was a challenge in one of the Facebook groups I'm in for rainbow nails...

So I did them and I used:
Julep:
  • Majorie
  • Lexxie
  • Nellie
  • Eden
  • Fiona

Zoya:
  • Elisa
  • Robin
Butter London - Cotton Buds
Sinful Colors- Black on Black
Pretty & Polished Matte Topcoat

First, I painted all of my nails white with Cotton Buds.
Then, like a day later (I'm really slow), I painted rainbow stripes on top of them with a striper brush.
The greatest part about these nails, is that it doesn't matter how bad you are at drawing stripes because you're not even going to see them for long. :D I suck at stripes.

THEN once the rainbows are COMPLETELY DRY (SUPER IMPORTANT) carefully apply striping tape in the opposite diagonal direction of the rainbow lines. Paint your whole nail black and slowly peel the tape off while they're still wet.
I then painted them with a matte topcoat.... just because I like matte and ended up with THIS AWESOMENESS!

I wish I could have these nails always.

Green & Gold Nails for St. Patrick's Day!

I finally pulled together some St. Patty's Nails with some of my favorite Julep colors!!! :)
I'm going to try a little nail art here in a minute, but I've been trying to wait on my HK Girl topcoat to get here! LOL It's the best and it's so hard to do my nails now without it!

For these nails I used:
Julep - Cindy
Julep - Lucky (Middle finger)
Julep - Andrea (Ring finger)

I purchased Cindy awhile ago, but hadn't really used it. This is a perfect color for the holiday! It's green with gold microshimmer! Love it!
Lucky is kind of similar, except it has big gold glitters in it. I got it last year as an add on in March!
Andrea is my favorite full coverage glitter right now. It's actually supposed to be bronze, but I definitely see it as gold!

Let's see your St. Patty's Nails!!! :D I think I'm going to do leprechaun nails here in a few!

March 2014 Julep Deal & Lucky Mystery Box!!

Julep has some pretty awesome deals right now just in time for St. Patrick's Day!! As many of you know, I love all things green and all things glittery, so this is a great holiday for me in regards to nail art!!
I also plan on tomorrow putting together some super awesome St. Patrick's Day nails for you guys!

First things first, I received an email earlier today, that if you purchase $10 at Julep.com between now and Tuesday 3/18/14, you can receive ANY gold nail polish completely for FREE with code FREEGOLD!! :D
Julep Beauty Inc.
This is a SUPER deal! Click HERE for a list they have provided of their gold polishes you can snag for free! My personal favorites are Zelda, Andrea, and Gianna! Basically if you buy one full priced polish, even if you use Maven prices, you can get another gold one free! B1G1! Or you could find something in the savvy deals section! Here I'll give you some ideas!

FOR STARTERS: One of the NEW Lucky MYSTERY BOXES!
For three more days, for only $24.99, you can pick from one of four (or multiple ones of course) mystery boxes. Three of which have brand new GREEN colors! :D
FYI, to view the boxes, click on any of the images below!

If you're feeling a little glittery, make sure and check out the box with Taryn!
icon icon
Taryn is a Deep Sea Teal Holographic Glitter!

If you're feeling a little minty, make sure and check out the box with Shannon!
icon icon
Shannon is a light minty green silk finish polish!

& If you're feeling a little dangerous, make sure and check out the box with Aislinn!
icon icon
Aislinn is my personal favorite. She is a probably really dark black and green glitter!

Last, but not least! If you're not feeling any of those above, you can pick a complete mystery!
icon icon
I think it's pretty neat that they're offering a 100% mystery version.

So! Those are some pretty viable options for things you can pick that are over $10. Buy a mystery box, get an already awesome deal of over $100 worth of polish & product AND on top of that get a free gold polish to go with your new green one!
Some other recommendations I have are:
icon icon
OR
Savannah set for $9.99 & Jackie $6.99
icon icon
Savannah is an adorable set! Great starter bright Julep colors!
Jackie is my all time favorite Julep Red. A MUST have.
